A Special Evening at Kol HaOt

Join us for a special evening at Kol HaOt on Sunday October 25, featuring two events that explore the connections between art and faith. Hear from our current artist-in-residence about her work inspired by one of the Kol Nidre prayers, and join us for a special event marking the closing of our current exhibition- Open My Lips: Timely Tehillim.

Debbie Secan, will open the evening with a talk about her work inspired by the Kol Nidre prayer, “כחומר ביד היוצר” (“Like clay in the hands of the potter”).

Debbie creates abstract woven paintings, giving new life to salvaged fabrics by tearing them into strips and weaving them into a canvas. She then paints the surface to highlight its texture and luminosity, creating richly layered works that invite viewers to interpret them through their own experiences.

מוזמנים להצטרף אלינו לארוע מתגלגל ביום ראשון הקרוב, 25.10, רגע לפני הבחירות. 

בשעה 19:30, דבי סקן, אמנית השהות שלנו, תשתף אותנו בעבודה שעסקה בה בזמן הרזידנסי שלה. דבי בחרה ליצור על בסיס הפיוט הידוע של ליל הכיפורים: כחומר ביד היוצר. 

בשעה 20:00 נקיים ארוע נעילת תערוכה של "שפתי תפתח: תהילים היום", עם שני אורחים מרתקים!

את הערב תפתח האמנית דבי סקן (Debbie Secan), השוהה כעת בתוכנית האמן. בשיחתה תספר על עבודתה, שנוצרה בהשראת תפילת כל נדרי והפיוט "כחומר ביד היוצר".

דבי יוצרת ציורים מופשטים בטכניקת אריגה, ומעניקה חיים חדשים לבדים ממוחזרים. היא קורעת את הבדים לרצועות, אורגת אותם לתוך מצע שעליו היא מציירת, וכך מדגישה את המרקם ואת משחקי האור. עבודותיה העשירות בשכבות מזמינות את הצופים לפרש אותן מתוך עולמם וחוויותיהם האישיות. השיחה תתקיים באנגלית.
